Sometimes it just takes a moment for your whole life to change...

After my third child was born I was looking for some motivation to lose my “baby fat” and I decided to try a triathlon. I was amazed at the focus and dedication I had knowing I had a race coming up. Even though I had always been fitness oriented, I hadn’t always liked it.

I completed my first triathlon in March of 2007 and I knew I was hooked. The feeling of accomplishment as I crossed the finish line was incredible! It gave me a new outlook on life and helped me to realize how much potential I had. I realized I could accomplish whatever I set out to do and I knew in that moment I had changed.

A little less than a year ago I challenged my two older brothers, who were looking for some motivation to improve their health and lose weight, to compete in a Thanksgiving Day triathlon with me. They agreed to the challenge.

They trained for the race more diligently than they had exercised in the past, but perhaps less diligently than they could have. They both completed the triathlon (some throwing up may have been involved) and right then and there each of them made up their mind to do another one, only next time they would train harder and make better choices all throughout the process.

They have both made significant changes and improvements in their health and lifestyle and that experience with my brothers inspired me to see who else I could help motivate.

I put it out on my blog that I wanted to host a triathlon-training group of about five women, just to see what I could do with them. I said ANYONE could do it, which I firmly believe, and I encouraged those people that were at all interested to let me know.

I was equally shocked and elated when the first people to respond to the challenge were my sisters and one of my cousins. Not at all who I had expected, but I was so excited to see how training for a triathlon was going to change their lives.

We had four months to train and a lot of work in front of us. I gave them basic workout outlines, because I hadn’t developed RaceDay Training yet, and we kept in contact with each other and our progress. There were ups and downs, tears and frustrations, happiness and fun times. At the end of it all, every one of them completed their first triathlon and again, I could see lives changing before my eyes.

Real change.

It was incredible and I realized I could do more. I wanted to help more people in more specific ways.

“If they could make all the improvements they did with just the basic information and workouts that I gave them,” I thought to myself, “how much more could they have done with specific daily workouts and information?”

And so I set about developing RaceDay Training.

With a Bachelor’s of Science in Fitness and Wellness Management, a personal training certification from NASM, and over eight years of personal training experience, I was certain I could use my knowledge to benefit not only my family but also my community.

With RaceDay Training, I am committed to changing lives and helping you achieve the goals you never thought possible.
