Head Games
One of the most important parts of training is to remember that your brain tells your body what to do. I assure you, it does.
Next time you are training try it out. If you tell yourself “I can’t finish this set”…you will struggle to finish or not be able to finish. If you tell yourself “I’m going to finish this set stronger than my last set”…I bet you will.
Of course there are certain situations that it doesn’t always work for, but for the most part our brain is the main controller.
Stay focused.
It makes all the difference.

Oh Kelly, I'm pretty sure I know that hill you are talking about. That's not a hill, it's a death trap. :) I puked at the top of it once. Because head games are my specialty, I would be like, "Come on, it's just a little incline, why would you possibly walk this?!" I wish I could run it now being in the shape I am now. I would like to think that at least I wouldn't puke. :)
Consistency Club Update
We have 4 people going strong for the Consistency Club:
Lea, Kelly, Kate & Diane.
If they keep it up, on October 24th each of them will have exercised 6 days a week for 30 days!
Anyone can start consistency club at any time. You just have to exercise (either a RaceDay workout or some other form of exercise for 30+ minutes) six days a week for 30 days and then leave a comment so we know what you did. If you complete the task you will get a RaceDay Training "Consistency is Key" t-shirt.
Congratulations to the 4 women who are working hard to reach this goal. I'm proud of each one of you and know you can do it.
I know the rest of you can do it too. The hardest part is stepping up and saying you will, but a LARGE part of the motivation to follow through comes in that first step...saying you'll do it.
Consistency really is key to a healthy life. When you're ready, we'd love to have you in our club!
I have to say that last week was a great week for me. Yes, I was tired at 6 am but I had so much more energy the rest of the day, was more productive, and I wasn't grumpy. I've even started waking up automatically in the morning and I crave my work out.
Saturday was not my day. I am still determined though to do it. This Saturday I will be getting in lots of walking. :-)
I love that there is a goal (and a reward). It makes me determined to succeed.
I have a funny story about mental games. There is a hill behind my house, it is pretty steep and I don't like running up it, and a lot of the time I give myself permission to go ahead and walk it. One night I was running in the dark and I just ran up the stupid hill like it was nothing. I think because it was dark my brain didn't tell my body it was too hard and to go ahead and just walk it. I know I sell myself short sometimes thinking I can't do something that I really can.
